What are Global Styles?
Global styles are font sizes/colours and bullet types for example which are set in one place.
The following items can be set as global styles:
- Font Sizes
- Font Styles
- Colours
- Bullet types (i.e. arrows, circles, squares)
Why use Global Styles?
Global styles give consistency to your website by creating a consistent look and feel. You can use global styles to reinforce business brand font styles and colours across your website.
If you’re a graphic designer global styles can ensure that Using global styles means that you only have one page to maintain styling and colour across your site.

- Global styles are set in your template files. You can access them in your page by unlocking your template and then selecting the global styles option from the template drop-down options.
- The Global styles menu will open.
- In the menu you can set the attributes for each tag of each class. To understand what classes and tags are click here.
- If you have not created your own classes at this stage then all your web pages will be using the default class. You can edit this by selecting the tags on the left-hand side of the menu, and changing the attributes on the right. Most of your text will be using the P tag but if you can select 'all' to set the attributes to all your tags.
- Once you are happy with the changes you have made click 'apply'.
Remember that changing the global styles will apply to any of the styles on the website. Including elements that have already been created on your page.
When setting values for under 'all' in global styles, be carful not ot set a size. Doing this will make all your text on your pages the same size. Obviously your headers may need to be bigger.
