Originally, Webwam was a web design firm consisting of a graphic designer, programmer and marketer. However, we had constant problems with the way we were designing websites. Programming websites was taking too long, but none of the available packages were creating code that passed our quality control, the designer was constantly frustrated with transforming their design to the internet so the quality of the design suffered, and the marketer needed an easy way to be able to access the page content without upsetting either the design or the coding. The end result was that sites were taking too long to build and develop. Once the site was live, the client would eventually ask how they could update it, even if they had initially not seen the benefit of paying for a content management system.
After recognising this problem, we decided to do something about it. We needed a way for the designer to be able to spend their time designing and not publishing to the web, the programmer needed to be able to add in dynamic code and links to a database where appropriate without interfering with the design, and the marketer needed to be able to open pages, change the content, title, keywords, and create new pages without needing to rely on the designer each time. This led to the Webmanager which solved all of the problems we had and even some problems we did not know we were going to have, leading to a simplified build process.
